Description:
Reporting to Company Officers, the Project Manager oversees construction projects from award to close-out. The Project Manager identifies project goals, objectives, and scope and creates a project plan that outlines the tasks, timelines, and resources required. This position maintains the responsibility of communicating with the project team and stakeholders, managing risks and issues, and monitoring progress to ensure projects stay on track.
Description and Responsibilities:
Project Managers are responsible for estimating, budgeting, organizing, implementing, and scheduling projects as well as evaluating project success and identifying areas for improvement in future projects. Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
- Read and interpret project documents to develop in-depth scope of project as well as legal requirements for project.
- Accurately estimate and prepare competitive bids for projects.
- Create project schedules by utilizing project management software and collaborating with estimators, General Foreman, and subcontractors.
- Interface bid cost data from estimating software into accounting/project management software to set up project budgets prior to construction and ensure project costs are properly accounted for during construction.
- Create schedule of values for projects, monitor cash flows, and perform regular billing and authorizations for payments.
- Negotiate with potential material suppliers and subcontractors.
- Write and issue purchase orders and subcontracts with terms and pricing favorable to Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc.
- Oversee project submittal process through submission, approval, and procurement.
- Provide document control for correspondence, RFIs, drawing revisions, as-builts, cost tracking, etc.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of QC processes for project based on contract documents, legal requirements, and input from project engineers and General Foremen.
- Coordinate and direct all onsite and offsite construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, conditions of performance, and schedule obligations.
- Identify, estimate, and submit Change Order requests.
- Plan projects to analyze, manage, and mitigate risks.
- Utilize conflict management to resolve disputes.
- Represent Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc. in a professional and ethical manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Project Manager.
- Possesses technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and demeanor.
- Knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
- Familiarity with construction management software.
- Proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally and in compliance with all applicable laws.
- Exercises excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
