What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Advocate position at Hands of Hope Resource Center?
Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Victim Advocate to provide support and assistance to individuals who have been affected by crime or trauma. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, crisis intervention, and child welfare.
Duties:
- Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime or trauma
- Provide information on available resources and services to help victims navigate the legal system
- Assist victims in understanding their rights and options for seeking justice
- Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and legal professionals to advocate for victims' needs
- Develop safety plans for victims of domestic violence or abuse
- Maintain detailed records of interactions with victims and the services provided
-Provide community outreach and oversite for sexual assault program, but cross-trained to work with all crime victims
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field (preferred)
- Previous experience in victim advocacy, social work, or related field
- Knowledge of child welfare, family law, and behavioral health services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
