What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEAM Instructor position at Hands-On Technology Education?
Hands-On Technology Education, LLC (HOTE) seeks to provide safe, engaging, and balanced STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) education company offering Summer Camps, After-School Programs, Professional Development & Customized workshops. HOTE's 'Technology Adventures' curriculum brings cutting-edge, technology themed activities to students and educators while HOTE's Technology Core companion curriculum promotes Computer Science & Engineering fundamentals to a wide variety of skill-sets.

The successful STEAM Program Facilitator member will help augment our After-School Enrichment Summer Camps, Professional Development & Customized workshops by engaging and providing guidance on their STEAM-based enrichment activities for the academic school year at one of our many program sites.
Program Locations: Greater Oakland, CA area
Program Working Hours:
- Ideal Shifts may vary, but typically occur Monday through Friday
Total Working Hours (Per Month):
- Anticipating 8 - 20 hours a month depending on availability of program scheduling.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist instruction of daily after-school program (ASP) via the implementation of new or existing Hands-On Technology curriculum.
- Provide assistance and support for students in working on After-School, demos, workshops, and summer camp Enrichment projects
- Attend mandatory employee-training programs and other trainings/meetings as scheduled.
- Facilitate and/or assist Activity Stations (in sports, art, music, and/or STEAM) in order to improve student engagement and retention in the program
- Group supervision and discipline, as necessary, to keep students engaged, whilst providing a safe environment
Training:
Prior to program start, instructors will receive training in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering concepts and activities targeting K-12 students. Satisfactory completion of training is required for all after school program instructors. Training is compensated.
Qualifications and Skills
- One of the following: (1) New/Current collegiate students with completed coursework in Education, Psychology or a Science-related field, (2) Industry/Professional with experience in General Education, Science and/or Engineering related activities, or (3) Tutors, Teachers and/or Instructional Aides with high passion/interest in helping kids achieve their goals in a after-school enrichment program setting
- Passion for learning new things and helping students explore new subject areas in Science & Engineering
- [Preferred] Previous experience teaching, tutoring and/or participating in at the elementary, middle, or high-school levels.
- [Plus] Experience supporting science & engineering activities as part of a group
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
