What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional (TK/K) position at Hanford Elementary School District?
ASSIGNMENT: Simas Elementary School; 7.0 hours per day; 181 workdays. (10 months per year) Hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision by school site administration or designated certificated staff, provides instruction to individual or small groups of students in general subject-matter areas to reinforce classroom lessons; observe, monitor and record student behavior and performance; and assist teachers in maintaining student academic and attendance records. Hanford Elementary School District is the largest school district in Kings County servicing nearly 6,000 students and employing over 700 personnel. Our District includes eight TK-6 Elementary schools, one K-8 Spanish Dual Immersion Charter school, two Junior High schools and one Community Day school. REQUIREMENTS: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Must meet the following requirements as defined in the ESEA Act of January 2002 Section 1119: Complete two years of higher education study, OR Hold or Obtain an Associate’s degree OR Pass a formal state or local academic assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching, reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing and mathematics readiness. Obtain a passing score on the High School Minimum Proficiency Test. One year of work involving contact with students.
Highly Desirable: Pursuing coursework that will lead to a Bachelors Degree and a teaching credential as a professional educator.
