CNC Machinist Job Description
Job Summary
The Machinist to complete Setup & operation of HAAS CNC MILLS | Lathes equipped with probing & tool presetter, program loading & editing at machine control, QC inspection of product. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of machining tool steels, high temp alloys, work fixtures, ANSI Y14.5 blueprint reading, AS9100 standards is desired. Machinist will be familiar with standard machining concepts, practices and procedures including Manual Data Input (MDI) and DNC. Our CNC Machinist may work with various tools and equipment, ensuring that all machining processes are executed efficiently and safely.
Essential Functions
The machinist will work from travelers, blueprints, set up sheets, drawings and | or verbal instructions. Sets up and operates CNC mills and lathes in order to manufacture precision components. Monitors the cutting process and conducts regular checks to ensure the machine is running properly and parts are being made according to the specifications. Ability to identify and correct any issues that occur during the machining process. Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
Daily functions | Responsibilities
- Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications, and set up machine
- Discuss job specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products
- Modify machine speed, feed rates, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts
- Oversee cutting process, adjust throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors
- Review and interpret programs, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary
- Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality
Skills and Qualifications
- Significant hands-on experience in CNC | conventional lathe and mill
- Extensive knowledge of machine set up and operations
- Programming experience with Mastercam preferred
- Blueprint reading skills
- Experience with precision inspection tools
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years CNC machining
- HAAS mills and lathes preferred
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
