Hanna Community Center is a small business in Lafayette, IN. We are professional, agile, professional and our goal is to The Hanna Community Center traces its beginnings to the old Lincoln Center, an institution built to serve the welfare and social needs of the black community and other minority groups, where resources are limited. Occupying the Lincoln School in 1923, the Center began as a recreational center for Lafayette's black youth. Our goal is to continue Hanna's commitment and continue its tradition of ensuring that services are provided for all who make up the diverse population of the greater Lafayette Community. The Hanna Community Center, Inc. is a non-profit, multi-service agency that provides programs and services for the surrounding community and minority residents of Tippecanoe County. The mission of Hanna Center is to provide and facilitate the development of surrounding neighborhoods, programs, and services which will enhance personal and community resources. We thrive with the support and sponsorship from many local businesses, persons, and grants and the continued commitment of our staff and volunteers. .
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Board Governance: Works with the Board to fulfill the organization’s mission
a. Responsible for leading Hanna in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
b. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions
2. Organization’s Mission and Strategy: Works with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach
a. Implements Hanna’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission
b. Responsible for working with the Board to implement the strategic plan and revise the plan as necessary to ensure that Hanna Center is equipped to fulfill its mission into the future
3. Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficiently to ensure the financial health of the organization
a. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Hanna Center, which includes the submission of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements to the Board. These documents must reflect the actual financial condition of the organization
b. Responsible for cash management, especially the balances of restricted funds.
c. Responsible for payroll
d. Responsible for fiscal management within the approved budget; ensures maximum resource utilization; and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position
e. Responsible for maintaining and complying with IRS regulations and the requirements of funding agencies. This includes preserving the tax-exempt status of the organization
f. Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support Hanna’s mission
4. Fundraising and Community Outreach:
a. Responsible for the enhancement of Hanna’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations
b. Coordinate annual fundraising and community outreach events
c. Responsible for grant compliance
d. Responsible for working with the Board to secure new revenue streams
5. Organization Operations: Ensure the efficient operations of the organization
a. Effective administration of Hanna Center operations
b. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities, including the building, grounds, and vehicles
c. Responsible for the hiring, supervision, training, and retention of staff
d. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
e. Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies for programming and the Hanna Community Center facility
f. Maintaining compliance as an IMHC agency regarding their program eligibility requirements and reporting requirements
g. Manage Brightwheel, enrollment, and be a liaison with parents
h. Manage incident reports, ensuring copies are made and issued to parents/guardians
i. Process CCDF cards for compliance and payment
Professional Qualifications:
- At least a bachelor’s degree; or five or more years senior nonprofit management experience or equivalent combination of volunteerism, education, and job skills
- High degree of integrity and strong leadership skills
- Transparent, communicative, and coachable
- Budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
- Ability to convey the vision of Hanna’s strategic future to staff, volunteers, and donors
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
- Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
- Strong public speaking ability
- Must have valid Indiana driver’s license
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Planning and operation of annual budget
- Maintaining employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions
- Serving as Hanna’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public
- Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Hanna’s Mission
- Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, and fundraising
- Supervise, collaborate with organization staff
- Maintain an appropriate level of physical presence at Hanna Center.
- Strategic planning and implementation
- Administrative support for all organization Board and committee meetings
- Oversee marketing and other communications efforts
- Review and approve contracts for services for day-to-day operations
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
