What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean of Students 2025-2026 position at Hannibal High School?
The Dean of Students will facilitate educational programs and related services under the direction of site administrators. He or she will assist with the planning, development, and implementation of functions related to student discipline, attendance, safety, and building operations.
Position Objective: To enforce and apply the Board of Education policy and Hannibal High School Handbook policies regarding the maintenance of discipline and attendance within the school.
Performance Responsibilities / Specific Job Related Tasks:
- Communicate with parents, teachers, school counselors, school administration, school resource officers, and community agencies to meet the needs of students
- Coordinate with the HHS administrative team to address student discipline incidents & attendance issues
- Coordinate with the HHS administrative team to investigate harassment and bullying allegations
- Assist with the maintaining of student records
- Help oversee the supervision of the Hannibal High School campus including before school, during passing periods, lunch shifts, after school, and student parking areas
- Assist with the overall security of the campus including morning metal detecting for tardy students, assisting with maintaining security cameras, and radio maintenance.
- Oversee the pirate pride positive student responsibility program
- Emergency class coverage -substitute
- Various evening event supervision as assigned by the HHS administrative team
- Teacher evaluations
- Coordinate with the HAYS program to distribute Buddy Packs
- Other duties as assigned
Certification Requirements: Masters Degree in Administration is preferred. Candidates who have started a Masters Degree in Administration will be considered.
