What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refrigerant Valves, Sensors and Wiring Application Engineer position at Hanon Systems?
The selected candidate will be responsible for refrigerant control valves, sensors, electric controls, and wiring for Refrigerant Module Assemblies (RMA) and heat exchanger assemblies for heat pump and battery electric thermal management system applications meeting all customer specifications and program deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities
- Understand customer assembly and component specifications and assure compliance of designs
- Create and manage engineering statements of work for all responsible components
- Apply APQP to the application (i.e DFMEA, SCIF, DFM/A, DVP&R, Dim/Tol analysis, proto Control Plan)
- Specify components aligned with Materials Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing strategies and functional requirements
- Support development of global commodity strategies for component sourcing
- Develop and maintain prototype and production Bill of Materials
- Lead Design and Release (D&R) in a phase-gate process, including Design Validation test Plans
- Lead and organize prototype planning and assembly for testing including quality controls
- Manage prototype tooling cost & timing from external and intra-company sources
- Provide direction to CAD, CAE/CFD and test personnel
- Lead and organize validation testing per DV plan
- Assess test results and manage design and/or prototype quality countermeasures as necessary
- Update core engineering standards and support DFMEA and regulatory requirement tools
- Release and sign-off of drawings ensuring drawings align with corporate design standards
- Execute and document all required product development deliverables in HPDS and/or GPEP
- Create and/or update core engineering standards, test procedures, and support DFMEA and regulatory requirement tools
- Interface with multiple product group PD, Advanced Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Program Management function groups
- Interface with customers (internal and external)
Years of Experience
3 years related experience preferred
Education
Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering preferred
Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, test, and launch automotive components
- Understanding of fluids, materials, controls, instrumentation, and software principles
- Experience integrating controls to refrigerant systems
- Experience in interpreting customer electrical hardware and software specifications
- Experience in quality disciplines such as DFMEA, SCIFS, etc
- Experience with ASPICE standards and component development interactions
- Able to interpret CFD and CAE/FEA results and utilize to optimize system design
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Experience in project planning and management
- Ability to conduct Technical Design Reviews
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience coaching Tier 2 supplier product development meeting corporate needs
Special Requirements
- Travel required to suppliers, customers and corporate manufacturing plants; international as required.
- Overtime may be required during some time periods.
