What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer - Compressors and Systems position at Hanon Systems?
The successful candidate should have previous working experience in a product test laboratory environment or product validation test or engineering experience. Candidate must understand the design and function of components being tested and will be responsible for leading subsystem and component test projects from planning stages through testing and subsequent reporting/close-out.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze customer test requests and specifications for automotive components and subsequently facilitate and manage the execution of test programs for product development and validation
- Confer with product engineers to establish a common interpretation of test specifications and clear test objectives
- Designate test facilities, methods, procedures, timing, and equipment.
- Provide test quotes as needed
- Prepare layout drawings of test setups and test fixtures as necessary
- Coordinate and direct the building of test fixtures (if required) for testing
- Program and set up test equipment required to conduct testing as needed
- Issue work instructions and direct technicians to conduct and monitor tests and equipment.
- Analyze test results and prepare test reports and documentation
- Address test equipment issues (conduct root cause and corrective action analysis)
- Ensure operations comply with corporate safety standards
- Ensure all testing is conducted in compliance with applicable quality standards and that equipment and instrumentation have the necessary quality & calibration checks
- Report progress and status of assigned test programs to customers and management
Years of Experience:
- 1 - 5 years experience in automotive component and subsystem testing and/or validation at an engineering or senior technician/technologist level desirable
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science
Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of vehicle sub-systems, including but not limited to climate control systems.
- Mechanical/electrical skills and knowledge and previous experience with vehicle standards and/or requirements desired
- Proficiency with one or more CAD systems is a plus
- Programming skills in one or more computer languages a plus (e.g., Labview, C , Visual Basic) desired
- Product engineering experience with climate control products, including compressors and thermal management systems, a plus
- Candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and provide leadership to technicians and direct the execution of multiple projects simultaneously
- Candidate should be able to promote internal and external collaboration to achieve win/win solutions at the department level as well as foster long-term customer relationships
- Candidate should be self-directed while contributing to the resolution of technical matters and able to assimilate and share acquired knowledge and insights
- Candidate should support product innovation and new technology through testing and employ continuous learning to develop core competencies
Special Requirements:
- Travel required (40-50% travel within North America)
- Occasional overtime and schedule flexibility required
