Job Summary: Consistently provide a high level of customer service by promptly meeting the needs of the customer, taking time to fully answer questions and provide customer with thoughtful recommendations on a wide variety of cheeses (artisanal, domestic or international) charcuterie, and other related products. Offer food and beverage pairings as appropriate. Keep department area clean and organized, sanitary and safe as well as presentable for sales.
Essential Job Functions:
- Promptly assist customers in a professional manner
- Provide customers with in-depth information on all products in department
- Evaluate, prepare and care for artisanal cheese, charcuterie and accompaniments through self-education of subject matter and tasting of the products
- Receive product; store and return product, when necessary, in a timely manner
- Check invoices, supplies, pricing and credits against orders as needed.
- Block and fill all retail areas of the department
- Rotate product and manage inventory in order to avoid shrink/loss of product.
- Keep department, scale and all production surface areas clean, orderly, presentable and sanitary following Co-op SOPs for food prep, hygiene and other department procedures
Education, Skills and Abilities:
- High school or equivalent.
- Basic cooking knowledge.
- Highly developed customer service and communication skills
- Computer proficiency to include WORD, Excel and Outlook
- Maintain positive relationships with co-workers, management and customers.
Attendance Requirements: Flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts. Availability to be scheduled to work any day of the week, according to department needs.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds on a regular basis. Also requires standing for long periods, reaching, twisting, keyboarding, walking and bending
