What are the responsibilities and job description for the FACE Lead Recreation Counselor position at Hanover Public Schools?
FACE Lead Recreation Counselors work under the guidance of FACE Recreation Directors to support the daily objectives of the FACE Little Rec, Summer Rec and Teen Extreme Programs. Programs will be operational Monday, July 7, 2025-Friday, August 15, 2025 with a mandatory training scheduled on Tuesday, June 24th. Additional training and program preparation hours will be scheduled for May-June 2025. Hours throughout the school year will also be available based on the needs of the FACE organization.
Candidates must demonstrate leadership, confidence and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and to collaborate with colleagues and leadership is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to foster and guide the growth and development of Recreation Counselors and Mentors. Candidates will be responsible for the safety and positive experience of all participants.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Directly support Program Directors and FACE Leadership
* Develop program wide activities in collaboration with Program Directors
* Serve as a liaison to the FACE Social Media Coordinators
* Support the FACE Mentor Program participants
* Cultivate a positive environment for students, families and colleagues
* Demonstrate professional and responsible behavior
* Promote a safe and healthy environment by implementing program standards and best practices to ensure the well being of all
students
* Guide student behavior through appropriate modeling and behavior management techniques
* Support the social emotional needs of all students
* Awareness of student allergies and/or medical needs
* Actively participate in daily operational duties including attendance & dismissal, station set up and break down, snack/lunch oversight,
implementation of activities, student transitions, cleaning and prep work
* Develop and maintain professional working relationships with students, families and colleagues
* Communicate in a professional and respectful manner at all times
* Maintain confidentiality of student and/or family information
* Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member
* Participation in daily and weekly operational meetings
* Participate in medical and instructional trainings
* Perform other duties and assignments as needed
