What are the responsibilities and job description for the FACE Recreation Counselor position at Hanover Public Schools?
FACE Recreation Counselors work under the guidance of FACE Recreation Directors and Lead Recreation Counselors to support the daily objectives of the FACE Little Rec, Summer Rec and Teen Extreme Programs. Programs will be operational Monday, July 7, 2025 - Friday, August 8, 2025 with a mandatory training scheduled on Tuesday, June 24th. Additional hours are also available weekly in the FACE Summer Extended Care programs.
Candidates must demonstrate enthusiasm, maturity, patience, flexibility and a willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills, the ability to take direction and to work effectively as part of a team is necessary. Candidates will be responsible for the safety and positive experience of all participants through active and consistent student engagement. Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
FACE Recreation Counselors must be entering 11th grade or above for the 2025/2026 school year.

* Guide student behavior through appropriate modeling and behavior management techniques
* Support the social emotional needs of all students
* Awareness of student allergies and/or medical needs
* Actively participate in daily operational duties including attendance & dismissal, station set up and break down, snack/lunch oversight,
implementation of activities, student transitions, cleaning and prep work
* Develop and maintain professional working relationships with students, families and colleagues
* Communicate in a professional and respectful manner at all times
* Maintain confidentiality of student and/or family information
* Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member
* Participation in daily operational meetings
* Participate in medical and instructional trainings
* Perform other duties and assignments as needed
