Purpose; Scope of Responsibility:
The Die Mold Repair Lead with a background in Tool & Die Fabrication (minimum 15 years’ experience) is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of molds used in production processes. As a leader within the maintenance department, the Mold Repair Lead will supervise a team of technicians, coordinate mold maintenance schedules, and ensure that molds are repaired to the highest standards. The role involves using expert tool and die fabrication skills to solve complex mold issues, ensuring that production runs efficiently, and molds are kept in top condition.
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and mentor a team of mold repair technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Assign tasks and monitor the progress of mold repairs, ensuring timely completion of all maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize mold repairs and manage workflow.
- Develop training programs for junior technicians, ensuring skill development within the team.
2. Advanced Die Molds Repair & Maintenance:
- Oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mold issues.
- Perform high-level repairs and modifications using advanced tool and die fabrication techniques.
- Ensure that all molds are maintained and repaired to optimal performance levels, minimizing production downtime.
- Utilize precision tools and machines, such as CNC equipment, lathes, mills, grinders, and welding machines, to fabricate or repair mold components.
- Lead complex mold changes, adjustments, and preventive maintenance operations.
3. Tool & Die Fabrication Expertise:
- Apply 15 years of experience in tool and die fabrication to resolve challenging mold issues.
- Fabricate or modify mold components with exceptional precision, using machining tools and advanced techniques.
- Work with engineering and design teams to improve mold designs based on production feedback.
- Ensure that all mold repairs and fabrications meet stringent quality and safety standards.
4. Preventive Maintenance Program Oversight:
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all molds.
- Track mold wear and tear, proactively addressing potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure the maintenance department’s mold repair operations align with production schedules and requirements.
5. Safety, Compliance, & Quality Control:
- Ensure all mold repair activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Lead safety training and enforce safety standards within the mold repair team.
- Conduct quality control checks on mold repairs to ensure they meet industry standards and production specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and operational.
6. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize mold performance and address production needs.
- Lead efforts to improve mold designs, reduce maintenance frequency, and extend mold life cycles.
- Stay up to date with advancements in mold repair techniques and tool & die technology, incorporating new methods to improve efficiency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for mold-related issues within the maintenance department, providing expert guidance and solutions.
Education/Background/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification or degree in tool and die fabrication or mold repair is preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in tool and die fabrication, mold repair, or a related field, with a focus on high-precision work in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is strongly preferred.
- Mastery of tool and die fabrication techniques, including machining, welding, grinding, and polishing.
- Proficient in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills, grinders, and other precision tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing complex mold issues.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing a team of technicians.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mold schematics.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy mold components and materials.
- Capability to work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring precision and focus.
Environmental Factors:Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift. Bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist. May work in awkward positions. On occasion may lift up to 60 pounds. Valid driver’s license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.50 - $36.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
