Purpose; Scope of Responsibility:
Responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain, repair, and install utility systems, such as water, sewer, gas, and electric.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of general duties related to plant maintenance and repairs of facility, and grounds, including equipment installations and repairs, excavation and general construction work.
- Train, assign and provide work direction to assigned utility workers.
- Recommend general maintenance to appropriate personnel.
- Operate heavy or specialized equipment such as a backhoe, bobcat, and operate a variety of hand tools, and transit or sight level.
- Prepare and maintain records, order inventory and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance and repair needs to the proper personnel and assist all personnel as assigned.
- Maintain various tools and equipment used in the course of work in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Safely start up, monitor, and shut down the boiler(s), air compressor(s), Cooling tower and pumps, and HVAC units.
- Operate forklifts up to 100K lbs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to:
- Read blueprints.
- Accurately estimate materials (concrete and aggregate) needed for the completion of projects.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Perform a variety of jobs related to maintaining and repairing district facilities and grounds.
- Operate heavy and specialized equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Observe health and safety regulations.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions
- Work night shift 6:00 pm – 6:00 am
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
