Machine Operator Non-Exempt

Set up, operate, observe and maintain one or more centerless grinding machine to produce precision parts. May be required to operate and observe thru-feed machines.
Will be required to measure and inspect parts
Location : Newington, CT
Reports to : Production Supervisor
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
Read blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and plan operational sequences
Manually position, adjust and secure stock material or work pieces against stops, in fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the grinding process
Observe the machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions; adjust machines as necessary
Inspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using micrometers, gages, templates or other measuring instruments
Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling or cleaning machines, adding coolant to machine reservoirs, etc.
Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
5-10% Domestic Travel required
Physical Demands :
Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility
Requirements :
Must be a US Person as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
High School Diploma or GED required
Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine appropriate actions.
Operate / monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly.
Control Precision The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions
Problem Sensitivity The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
