Hanwha Ocean is embarking on a journey to transition from a traditional shipbuilder to an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Operation (EPCI(O)) solution provider, offering products such as FPSO, FLNG, Offshore Renewables and other Floating Production Units.
The Offshore Business Division recently expanded its global footprint by establishing a new Global Business Centers in North America and Europe with the intention of becoming a project-centric and client-driven business organization. This transformation aims to offer enhanced project execution and knowledge-driven operational models by bridging the upstream culture of three continents across Asia, Europe, and America.
Summary
The IT Director is responsible for managing and utilizing the respective resources to support the overall Global IT/IS Strategy. This role takes ownership for the overall quality and performance of the work performed by the department and ensures that all the department activities and deliveries are fully aligned with standards, requirements, and regulations.
The IT Director is accountable for developing and maintaining synergies through the department and ensures the department is working in an integrated manner.
Accountabilities
To take ownership of the overall quality and performance of the work performed by the department, you are to:
- Ensure that the safety and quality of all produced results within the department are aligned with Group Standards/procedures, as well as (if applicable) Client’s requirements and international/ local law and regulations,
- Ensure that Company processes and (where applicable) working instructions are understood and followed across different expertise areas and suggest business improvement where possible,
- Ensure that feedback (from other departments/ Group Managers/ other Regional Centres) related to the department activities are followed up,
- Ensure a permanent watch of the related industry standard/common practice,
- Ensure that efficient processes and tools are in place and will be developed/ improved where necessary,
- Ensure that all results produced by the department are within the agreed time constraints and budget,
- Ensure that the working environment of all department employees is safe,
- Ensure that the department OPEX is managed and controlled and stays within the plan
The measure of Effectiveness in this role will be:
- Satisfactory feedback on quality of work from relevant stakeholders (for example project team, management, or other departments),
- On time and within budget delivery of projects,
- No safety incidents,
- Minimal to none service disruptions,
- Define and deliver on service level agreement.
To effectively develop employees, manage talent and to ensure that your team can perform their role according to the set expectations and agreements, you are to:
- Ensure that department employees have the right (level of) competencies to enable both current and future business priorities and needs,
- Provide regular individual (and timely) feedback, ensure performance issues are addressed promptly and partner with HR to install and promote a motivating working environment,
- Ensure team has sufficient growth opportunities and proper development in relevant areas that are aligned with both current and future business needs,
- Promote talent growth by ensuring talents have exposure and opportunities within the department/ other departments/projects/other Regional Centers when applicable,
- Ensure individual/ team development budget is properly allocated to maximize talent development for current/ future business needs,
- Ensure that an appropriate amount of time can be dedicated by the employee to development to ensure that current and future business needs can be met,
- Coach employees, utilize and follow-up of development action plans and engage in effective retention efforts.
- Proven increase in Behavioral and Functional competency levels of the department,
- Feedback from relevant other departments/ projects that allocated resources have the (right level of) competencies to be effective,
- Development plans are of good quality and in place for all department employees,
- Succession and talent management plan available and up to date,
- Defining the appropriate objectives which contribute to the overall strategic plan of the department, and which are measurable.
- Continuously engage with other Department Managers/ IT Discipline Heads to align on the approach and pro-actively share best practices to enable continuous improvement,
- Communicate with different expertise areas and other departments to ensure all parties are promptly informed about product or project developments,
- Support (project) delivery by proactively engaging with other Managers and stakeholders to reduce the “surprise” element which enables on time and within budget finalization.
- Identify the future budget impact of an IT implementation on either the IT or business budget in order to support a transparent project execution as well as an effective cost forecasting and cost management (CAPEX requirement vs OPEX requirement).
- Ensuring your department is pro-actively participating in Offshore Business Unit projects,
- Demonstrated effective interfaces within and with another departments/ Regional Centers/ Hanwha Group.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate in engineering, construction management, operations management, project management, or related field. Business awareness.
- Strong experience in establishing PMO organization and culture in large organization.
- Proven record of implementing PMO organizations across country/region.
- Strong experience working as a Program Manager.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas Industry.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in staffing & managing global project execution teams.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience executing project management operations in an international environment.
- Commercial experience with sales proposals and contract terms and conditions.
- Working knowledge of industry standards, including HSSE regulations.
- Knowledge of Quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of capacity definitions.
- Experience dealing directly with subcontractors (negotiating terms and conditions, contracts, reporting).
- Extensive experience using and leading the use of core project management fundamentals including project tracking systems and project management tools and concepts.
- Ability to understand and navigate organizational dynamics.
- Ability and desire to focus on continual improvement in all service offerings, processes, systems, reporting.
- Ability to effectively manage people, lead a team and ensure their professional development.
