Summary
The Traffic Coordinator is responsible for managing all load tendering activities, from external/non-HWI shipping locations, in a manner that ensures cost effective transportation of goods at service levels that meet corporate objectives.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring all orders are dispatched and assigned for pickup on the appropriate ship date to meet promised delivery dates, within approved traffic lane pricing guidelines
- Creating and transacting all physical transactions to ensure that all shipping paperwork (Bills of Lading, Picking Slips, export documents etc.) is generated on a timely basis, distributed accurately, contains accurate information (including tarp instructions) and is appropriately retained for audit purposes
- Working with the fabricator sites and carriers to ensure that all shipments are scheduled and picked up in a timely basis within schedule guidelines to meet daily manpower and shipping objectives for the sites under management
- Receive daily communications that identify the requirements for the day and respond with accurate, clear instructions and urgency when required
- Receive Purchase Orders into designated locations
- Coordinate account holds and releases with Customer Account Specialists (CAS)
- Close out/punch out all shipped orders in a timely manner to meet company requirements
- Supporting the HarbisonWalker Business System (HBS) including 5S by identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous process improvement as metrics warrant
- B.S. degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
- Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced excel expertise
- Requires knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS-RF)
- Requires knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and web-based software (Carrier Point, Red Prairie, etc.)
- Requires strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Requires strong analytical skills and the ability to assemble and quickly analyze data to make decisions
- Requires time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priority projects at the same time
- Requires the ability to solve business problems independently
- The Traffic Coordinator I requires zero (0) – two (2) years of professional experience in transportation planning.
- Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time sitting, and talking or hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking, using hands/fingers to handle and/or feel and reaching with hands and arms; less than 1/3 of time climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- Lifting: Requires lifting up to 10 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close, distance and color vision, and the ability to focus.
- Environment: Requires more than 2/3 of time in an office setting with very limited exposure; less than 1/3 of time exposed to wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and extreme heat/cold.
- Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise conditions.
