What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Staff Accountant position at Harbor Group Management?
CORPORATE STAFF ACCOUNTANTJOB SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining the accounting records for the corporate entities and working together with other members of the accounting department to produce a monthly, quarterly and annual financial package.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by Harbor Group Management.
Posting ongoing journal entries to corporate general ledgers
Preparing bank reconciliations and ensuring that reconciling items are cleared timely
Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for corporate entities, including making any needed reclasses between departments
Creating and distributing invoices for external asset management fees
Tracking receivables for internal and external alternative asset management fees
Working with external CPAs to provide support needed for annual audits, tax returns, compilations, and some quarterly reviews for corporate entities
Assisting with the preparation of the yearly budget for corporate entities
Posting monthly property management fees and property asset management fees
Maintaining corporate balance sheets, including any corporate advances to pending deals
Requesting invoices and obtaining other support for reimbursable expenses
Facilitating transfers and reimbursement between corporate entities and their affiliates
Maintaining line of credit schedules and associated interest receivable
Assisting other members of the accounting department with special projects as needed
Assisting other members of the corporation with their inquiries

BS degree in accounting or equivalent; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience with MRI and/or other accounting systems preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint; very strong Excel skills
Ability to learn MRI accounting system. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
Must be able to multi-task, manage time well and meet critical deadlines
Excellent interpersonal & communications skills, both verbal and written; strong organizational skills
Ability to assimilate and summarize large quantities of data precisely and succinctly
