Truss Designer

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a team of designers to develop truss designs for single-family homes, multi-family homes, and commercial projects.
• Utilize Simpson design software for CAD-based truss designs.
• Interpret blueprints accurately to ensure precise truss designs.
• Create detailed roof and floor trusses, as well as placement plans, using our systems.
• Ensure that all truss designs are accurate, optimized, and comply with local standards and regulations.
• Request sealed engineering drawings and follow up to ensure completeness when required.
• Enter truss and hardware quantities into the database accurately.
• Generate cost-effective and precise layouts and truss designs from architectural and structural drawings, while adhering to building codes.
• Provide on-site support as needed.
• Demonstrate proficiency in framing and construction practices.
• Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines independently.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience with design software such as , Intelibuild, Timberline, Mitek Sapphire, Alpine, or CAD preferred.
• Knowledge of wood framing, hold downs, and structural components typical in wood-framed buildings.
• Attention to detail.

Would be nice:

• Hands-on framing experience.
• Previous experience in a construction environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to adapt to both office and field environments.
• Capable of driving a company vehicle as needed.
• Availability for local and overnight travel when required.
