Education/Experience/Other Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related mental health field required. Master's preferred.
- Certification as an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) or Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) required.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Must be certified as a Prevention Specialist or in the process of being certified for either certification in the State of Ohio.
- Experience in prevention education preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
- Candidate must have a belief in unconditional care for troubled children and their families.
- Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word and internet use for web-based reporting.
- Responsible, along with Day Treatment Program Director, for marketing and securing Lucas County schools to provide prevention services.
- Provides personnel management functions for all assigned clinical staff including orientation, supervision, annual evaluations, involvement in hiring direct service staff, disciplinary actions, etc. Any disciplinary action involving time off without pay or termination requires coordination/consultation with the Director, Human Resources.
- Provides Prevention Education to Lucas County in classrooms, groups, as follows:
- Psychoeducational Prevention Education Groups
- Classroom Prevention Education Presentations
- Structured Prevention Education Activities
- Family Prevention Education Sessions
- Provides referral options to clients exhibiting signs and symptoms of an alcohol or other drug problem. Work with parent/guardian and Case Manager for most appropriate referral.
- Provides Prevention Education and alcohol and other drug information to parents/guardians of our client population.
- Provides appropriate documentation of occurrences through the web-based system of individual or group Prevention Service customers.
- Assist in development, innovation and implementation of prevention programs.
- Assist with RFP/grant writing.
- Be responsible for data collection.
- Assist with development and implementation of prevention budget.
- Utilizes the web-based system for documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
- In providing services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
- Provides quarterly statistics of service to Program Director and MHRSB Board through the web-based system.
- Develops programming in the area of Prevention and procedures for dealing with alcohol and other drug use and abuse by our client population.
- Assists in department/agency committees, activities and projects and develops and maintains appropriate relationships with staff members.
- Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth.
