Under the general supervision of the Program’s Supervisor, the Client Services Manager (CSM) assesses the needs of the consumer and /or the consumer’s’ family when appropriate, and arranges, coordinates, monitors, evaluates, and advocates for services to meet the specific consumer’s needs through Family / Person Center Planning (PCP) and the development of an individual plan of service (FPOS/IPOS). The Client Services Manager is responsible for addressing both the individual consumer’s biopsychosocial status as well as the state of the social system in which case management operates, assuring the implementation and delivery of services to consumers and in keeping with the principles of recovery, self-determination and resilience, as well as developing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with the consumer. CSM’s are also responsible for linking consumers with external systems to provide additional services, resources, and opportunities consistent with qualitative and quantitative performance goals and standards established by the department. In addition, Master level CSM’s are assigned to provide Intensive Case Management and /or Therapeutic Interventions to their consumers. Client Services Managers may be required to provide crisis support services, possibly to include pre-screening for inpatient or partial hospitalization, if needed for assigned consumers and families.
This position works with the following populations: IDD adults receiving services through the Habilitation Supports Waiver, IDD children through the Children's Waiver Program, and children with ASD receiving ABA therapy services.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Level (Pay Grade 7) Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work is required. Appropriate Michigan licensure/certification is required. Master’s Level (Pay Grade 9) Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling with State of Michigan Licensure. Master’s level such as
- Licensed Master’s Social Work
- Limited License Psychology
- Licensed (full/limited) Professional Counselor
EXPERIENCE: B.A. CSM One (1) year supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families within the specific consumer population in which the position holds responsibility child with mental illness or SED (QMHP*, CMHP***), child or adult with developmental disability (QIDP**) required. Preferred. CAFAS/PECFAS training preferred. M.A. CSM Two (2) years’ work experience within the specific consumer population in which the position holds responsibility child with mental illness or SED (QMHP*, CMHP***), child or adult with developmental disability (QIDP**). CAFAS/PECFAS training preferred.
In addition, demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate care for the specific clinical needs and ages of the individuals served. Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical needs, symptoms, and behaviors of individuals served, as well as understand the principles of growth and development over the life span; have the ability to assess data reflecting each individual’s status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each individual’s requirements in relation to his or her age-specific/population specific needs; and to provide the care needed by the appropriate age group – (child, adult and geriatric).
*QMHP - Individual with specialized training or one year experience in treating or working with a person who has mental illness as defined under the Michigan PIPH/CMSP Provider Qualifications per Medicaid Services.
**QIDP -Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) - Individual with specialized training or one year experience in treating or working with a person who has intellectual disability.
***CMHP –Child Mental Health Professional - Individual with specialized training
and one year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families and who is trained and has three years supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families; or an individual with at least a master’s degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited school who is trained and has one year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families.
Note: A related degree and /or a limited license may be considered in lieu of the above where provider qualifications as defined under the Michigan Mental Health Code and/or Medicaid Provider Manual and appropriate supervision exist.
