Summary:
At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee-owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we're continuously expanding. With 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities across 20 states, we're seeking a dedicated Unit Manager to join our team to assist with opportunities. Reporting to the Production Director this role will lead and manage the activities of a production unit within an industrial organization, overseeing the processing of materials or manufacturing of products.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
- Review production orders or schedules to identify product data, such as types, quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines.
- Plan and organize production operations, establishing priorities and sequencing tasks to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Develop production schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure that product quality meets specifications and timelines are adhered to.
- Monitor production and operating reports to address operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues, ensuring cost efficiency and preventing delays.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure they are operating at optimal performance levels.
- Revise or develop standard operating procedures and monitor workers to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Conduct safety meetings and inspections, ensuring that safety protocols are being followed.
- Resolve employee grievances or forward unresolved issues to the Plant Manager for action.
- Oversee the procurement of raw materials and supplies necessary for production.
- Manage raw material and finished product inventories to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Handle the hiring, training, and ongoing development of employees, including retraining as needed.

- Job duties may also result in:
- Generate, handle, and/or inspect hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage.
- Respond or manage hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the site’s emergency action or contingency plan.
- Prepare and manage hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five or more years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:
- Physical requirements include lifting and moving various weights up to 75 pounds.
- Physical requirements will also include standing or sitting for long periods of time.
- Visual abilities include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Safely work with hazardous chemicals and use the required PPE.
Work Environment:
- Work environment includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions and mechanical equipment.
- Occasional exposure to chemicals.
- Noise level is moderate to loud.
- Occasionally work at elevated and heights.
