Adjunct Faculty:
Medical Laboratory Technology Program – Student Lab Instructor
Harcum College’s Lab Science Department is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach the Applied Lab Techniques 1 course offered each fall semester at the Bryn Mawr campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In person instruction on basic laboratory techniques for first-semester Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) students. Supplemental instruction using Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
- Lab runs 5 Saturdays from September-December from 9am-3pm
- Work with MLT staff to order student lab supplies
- Responsible for set-up and break down of student lab instructional materials
- Submission of attendance, mid-term, and final grades
- Virtual attendance at semi-annual department meetings and other meetings as requested by the program director
- Mandatory annual participation in continuing education activities
- Regular and ongoing communication with MLT program director
- Annual completion of course assessment information
Qualifications:
- ASCP certified as an MLS with a minimum of 5-years’ experience
- Teaching experience in a college setting preferred, specifically online teaching using a LMS
- Knowledge and ability to provide Hands-on teaching of basic principles the following areas:
- Lab safety and basic lab operations
- Chemistry and Point of Care Testing
- Hematology and Coagulation
- Urinalysis
- Microbiology, Serology, Blood Bank
