First Year Experience Coordinator
HIRING SALARY: $45,000 annually
HOURS: Full time/12 months (hours will vary to include some evenings and weekends)
POSITION SUMMARY: Harcum College is accepting applications for a First Year Experience Coordinator to join a
dynamic Student Success team. The position is housed in Academic Affairs and will report to the Executive Vice
President and work in close collaboration with the Director of Academic Integration. The First Year Experience
Coordinator will provide student success support to first-year students and facilitate efforts across campus to provide a
unified approach to interventions aimed at increasing retention and success rates of new students. First Year Experience
programming will include orientation, college success classes/workshops, and student engagement events. This position
will coordinate with staff across the college including Admissions, Career and Transfer, Academic Coaching, Student
Success Center, and Student Life. Primary duties will include:
- Plan, deliver, and coordinate new student programming including Summer Bridge programming, College
students in their first year at Harcum College.
- Connect first-year students to support services including individual and small-group counseling to increase
- Build extracurricular engagement for underrepresented students to increase professional and personal
- Monitor students’ progress toward completing their educational goals and regularly communicate with them via

- Assess First Year Experience programming and adapt as indicated.
- Engage in ongoing research and application of best practices for student success.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS SHOULD DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of best practices in addressing
access to postsecondary education, college admissions procedures, secondary to postsecondary transition,
postsecondary transfer processes, and career planning. Awareness of the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA). Respect for a college environment that includes students and colleagues from a variety of social, economic,
cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Facility with engaging in individual and group session formats via in-person and virtual
delivery systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Oral and written communication skills to accurately
share information with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to plan, organize, and effectively assure student participation in
college events. Work independently, and in a team.
