What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim Controller position at Hardesty, LLC?
Our client is a private equity owned consumer productsvcompany and they are need of an immediate Interim Controller. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise, direct and monitor all daily accounting activities; ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner; and overseeing the annual financial audit and production of financial and other key reports for management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Accounting Department staff and financial functions
- Primary responsibility for preparation for the annual financial audit.
- Responsible for the preparation of the company’s divisional and consolidated financial statements.
- Supervise the activities of all the accounting staff, including A/R, A/P and payroll.
- Oversees month-end and fiscal year-end closing and coordinates and assigns duties to the accounting staff as needed.
- Maintain accounting and fixed asset software to ensure proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of accounting transactions are performed within the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Evaluates departmental performance and makes adjustments to daily operations when needed to ensure the department meets overall goals and objectives.
- Provides training, guidance, and direction to employees to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely and knowledgeable manner.
- Oversees the preparation and filing of payroll tax and sales tax returns.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
- Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and workflow
- Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization by knowing your audience
- Solid Managerial skills and ability to function in a supervisory role
- Must be able to prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines while handling multiple tasks
- Ability to function as a team leader and lead from the front
- Must have experience with Fulfil.IO software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting is required
- CPA is required
- At least five years of experience supervising a team of accountants.
Salary : $85 - $100
