JOB SUMMARY
To perform surgical technologists work in hospital. To deliver patient care and assume appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery. Will assist the surgeon and surgical nurse in preparing for and performing surgeries.
Reporting Structure : Reports to the Department Nurse Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School diploma or GED Required. Graduate of a surgical technologist program is required or graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience.
Work Experience
Must have two (2) years Surgical Technologist with Operating room experience required
License / Certification
Tennessee Certified Surgical Technologist Certification required
Current f Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares the operating room with the proper instruments for the procedure,
Assists in preparing patients for surgery.
Monitors the patient vitals, and passes surgical tools and supplies to the surgeon during the operation. Keeps count of the sponges and equipment used to make sure nothing is left in the open wound.
Assists in the transfer patients to recovery,
Cleans clean and stocks the operating room for the next procedure.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs other required duties and special projects as assigned

Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds during a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to see with corrective eye wear
Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
Able to handle emergency and / or crisis situations
May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary
Transferring, repositioning patients.
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
