Job Summary
HCS is seeking a key management position in a design build custom home and remodeling firm which specializes in residential and commercial projects in the Bakersfield and surrounding areas. This position reports directly to the President and supports the company by managing all administrative functions and coordinating activities of office/support staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting practices, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of technical accounting principles, including GAAP and budgeting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions and reconciling accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries for management review.
- Assist in budgeting processes and provide insights on financial performance.
- Utilize accounting software Quickbooks Online to manage financial data effectively.
- Understanding of percent complete accounting methods.
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards when applicable.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall financial operations.
- Conduct regular audits of financial data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, demonstrating strong technical accounting skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Quickbooks Online; familiarity with other platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is essential.
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable processes is required.
- Strong budgeting skills and the ability to analyze financial data effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
