Hardware Sales Inc is a local family owned company operating since 1962 and headquartered in Bellingham, WA. In addition to sales of hardware, tools, and all of the usual hardware store products, we are proud to provide our community with access to an extensive fleet of equipment rentals for both homeowners and contractors. Our Lawn Equipment Service Center is a certified repair center and offers a one-stop shop for purchasing, servicing and maintaining lawn and outdoor power equipment.

Hardware Sales has worked hard to become one of the Pacific Northwest's premier hardware suppliers. Whether it's plumbing or electrical materials, automotive or garden supplies, housewares or hand trucks, hand or power tools, fasteners or fencing, padlocks or paint, cable or chain - we have them all, and much, much more! Hardware Sales is an award-winning business that fills several city blocks in Bellingham and offers over 70,000 items for sale to everyone from do-it-yourself homeowners to major contractors. What started in 1962 with three people, now has over 140 employees and covers a total of 37,000 square feet of retail and 50,000 Sq. Ft. warehouse In Bellingham, a 32,000 Sq. Ft. warehouse in Ferndale, WA, and a 55,000 Sq. Ft. warehouse in Greenwood, IN.

Job Summary:

Hardware Sales is seeking an Outside Sales Representative with strong industry knowledge. This position will play a pivotal role in expanding our commercial client base, fostering long-term partnerships, and driving sales growth within the business sector. Your responsibilities will include identifying potential clients, presenting our products and services, building relationships, managing accounts, and delivering tailored solutions to meet the needs of our B2B customers. This position will work in a team of sales professionals dedicated to serving the needs of our largest customers and will be essential in helping us expand our reach and exceed our sales targets.

This position will earn monthly commissions for both team sales and personal sales on top of the base salary.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Making Sales and Obtaining Orders:

  • Actively engage in selling hardware and industrial products and services to commercial clients.

  • Secure orders and contracts for products and services, ensuring customer needs are met.

  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling to maximize revenue.

Prospecting and Lead Generation:

  • Identify and target potential clients through various channels.

  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends and potential opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of B2B leads.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Building:

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in target companies.

  • Present our extensive range of hardware and industrial products and services.

  • Custom-tailor solutions to meet the specific needs of each client.

Order Quoting and Order Writing:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for current and potential clients.

  • Ensure timely and precise order entry, following company procedures.

  • Manage the end-to-end process of writing up orders, ensuring clarity and accuracy for seamless delivery.

Sales Strategy and Closing Deals:

  • Collaborate with the sales team and management to develop effective sales strategies.

  • Negotiate terms and agreements with clients and close sales deals.

  • Regularly monitor the progress of sales opportunities and maintain accurate records.

Account Management and Customer Support:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring client satisfaction.

  • Offer post-sale support, including handling inquiries, order processing, and issue resolution.

  • Conduct follow-up meetings to maintain and grow client relationships.

Product Knowledge and Market Insights:

  • Stay up-to-date on hardware and industrial product offerings and industry trends.

  • Share market insights and customer feedback with the company to drive product improvements.

Regular Off-Site Engagement:

  • Customarily and regularly engage in sales activities away from the employer’s primary place of business, including client site visits and networking events.

  • Build and strengthen relationships by meeting clients on their premises to better understand their operational needs.

Compensation and Employee Status:

  • Receive compensation on a guaranteed salary, commission, or fee basis.

  • Be advised of employee status as an "outside salesperson" in accordance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven B2B sales experience in hardware or industrial supplies.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and with a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client visits.

This role is regular full-time, exempt, salaried position.
