TITLE: Technical Writer
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
BASED AT: Harken, Inc., Pewaukee, WI
STATUS: Full Time, 1stshift
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in determining if a manual is needed and the scope and format of the manual.
- Work closely with the Engineering, Technical Service and other departments to understand products, their use, installation and maintenance.
- Write and edit technical manuals for all Harken product lines.
- Ensure manuals are accurate, well written, clear and concise.
- Create or obtain necessary images to be included in the manual.
- In depth knowledge of the specifications various manuals must meet and the ability to create manuals in compliance with the specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to effectively prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
- Must have 3 years of experience in technical writing
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, or English or Journalism
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
- Be prepared to present your portfolio demonstrating technical writing experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
