What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Harker Heating & Cooling Inc?
BASIC FUNCTION: To ensure all accounting allocations are consistently and appropriately made and documented. Track down and process payments as timely as possible. Work within the accounting team and assist the CFO in daily tasks to ensure accurate data for the management team.
WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply customer checks and credit card payments into our Spectrum software
- Update bi-weekly AR report
- Dig into aging balances and track down customers payments
- Review and post customer invoice batches each day
- Enter vendor invoices using AP automation software
- Prepare weekly check run for review
- Count the cash draw and apply cash payments
MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clear up all zero accounts with pennies, negatives, & small discrepancies
- Apply finance charges prior to publishing monthly statements
- Send out monthly statements
- Dig into statements that look like they may have issues
- Assist with CC reconciliation
- Assist with monthly close as needed
QUARTERLY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and recommend customers’ accounts that need to be sent to collections
- Update quarterly fixed asset list for our CPA firm
GAUGE FOR SUCCESS
- One third of your time should be spent on collections, one third of your time should be spent entering payments, and then the last one third should be spent on other accounting related tasks . Manage your time in these proportions and you will be a successful Accounting Assistant
WAGES AND BENEFITS
- Salaried position with a range of $40k-55k based on experience
