The Water Safety Instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing courses. Must have the ability to communicate with people of all ages. Should have current certifications required by American Red Cross. Must be able to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until Noon, unless otherwise agreed upon.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills, Experiences: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Must be certified as a WSI First Aid & CPR. Should have experience in swim courses. This position requires good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and visual awareness. The WSI is required to interact with all users of the pool. Must be able to relate rules and directions. This position requires the ability to provide support and encouragement to swimmers, and to communicate with the Aquatic Supervisor and the City of Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department.EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Telephone and swim course materials.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds of pool equipment. Must be able to handle paperwork, set up facility, and to perform CPR/First Aid. Must be able to consistently monitor swimmers.WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position requires that the individual work outdoors for prolonged periods of time, and be exposed to various weather conditions. The WSI will be required to be present at all times the lessons is conducted.
