Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Assistant Director of Wealth Builds’ National Hub with William Julius Wilson Institute.
The Assistant Director of Wealth Builds’ National Hub will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Director at the William Julius Wilson Institute within the Wealth Builds’ National Hub to support the execution of a high-priority wealth-building initiative at HCZ. In this role, reporting to the Director of National Site Partnerships and working closely with leaders across the organization, the Assistant Director will engage in a broad range of critical activities aimed at significantly narrowing the wealth gap. This role interacts with a variety of teams across HCZ, critical stakeholders, and external partners, and must be able to collaborate well and communicate effectively.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a competitive four-year college or university
Who you are
- Relevant professional experience relationship management, project leadership, and strategy
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, and maintaining large datasets from multiple sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, while conducting analyses that drive business decisions. Salesforce experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment, effectively navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing priorities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities, and work independently
- Ability to learn quickly and respond to feedback
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly adapt to other data management, communication and presentation tools.
- Experience with project management tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of historical and contemporary racial equity issues, programs, policies, and structures that impact social and economic mobility
- Passion for and commitment to the mission of the Harlem Children’s Zone
What you’ll do
- Support the implementation and rollout of an ambitious economic mobility initiative across multiple regions, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with the initiative’s goals.
- Collaborate with leadership to design and execute a comprehensive strategy for partnership development and relationship management that supports the initiative’s overall objectives.
- Create and maintain detailed project plans for the initiative’s rollout, tracking progress toward key milestones and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders, gathering updates and preparing both internal and external progress reports to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Support the management of the initiative’s data room, ensuring that critical partner data is properly organized, up-to-date, and accessible.
- Conduct desk research and fieldwork to identify additional catalytic support and opportunities that can inform the national scaling strategy for the initiative.
- Develop and maintain communications materials, including toolkits, marketing content, and program documents to effectively support partnership engagement and project execution.
- Take a leadership role in the execution of a national collegiate leadership initiative within the National HUB, ensuring strong coordination, cross-organization collaboration and impactful outcomes.
- Perform other duties as required, contributing to the ongoing success of the initiative and broader external engagement efforts
