Family Support Specialist (Parent Educator)

Job Summary
The Parent Educator plays a vital role in supporting families by providing education, resources, and guidance to enhance parenting skills and promote child development. This position involves working closely with parents and caregivers to address their needs, ensuring the well-being of children. The Parent Educator will utilize their expertise in to foster positive relationships and empower families.

Responsibilities:

1. Actively support the mission of the school and district. Parent Educator

2. Utilize conscious engagement regarding equity, diversity and inclusion.

3. Represent the Harlem Consolidated School District in a professional manner.

Duties:

1. Provide supports and resources to families to strengthen the school-family connection.

2. Facilitate programming for parent/child activities. Parenting classes, workshops, training or groups based on needs assessments.

3. Maintain and manage the lending library for families in Harlem’s Early Childhood Program.

4. Accompany teachers and/or social workers on home visits and provide child development and growth activity suggestions for home use and/or to support school attendance/participation.

5. Provide information for parents in regards to their questions and concerns, linking families to community resources as needed.

6. Design and implement Parent/Child evening activities focusing on a variety of academic and developmental areas.

7. Provide transition assistance to new families as they register after the start of the school year.

8. Keep current with best practices and requirements as they relate to your job assignment.

9. Perform such other job related duties and assume such other professional responsibilities as your supervisor may from time to time assign or delegate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
