Harmony Hill School (HHS), a private, non-profit organization providing residential and day treatment services to adolescent males in Glocester, RI, is seeking a caring, experienced direct care professional to join our team as a Residential Youth Care Supervisor.
The Youth Care Supervisor works collaboratively with the HHS management and support teams to ensure the safe, consistent and professional care and management of adolescent males in assigned dormitory. The Supervisor fulfills direct care responsibilities and oversees dormitory operations and team staff performance.
This is a full time position working 37.50 hours per week. The flexible work schedule is a mix of day and evening shifts primarily Monday through Friday with occasional rotating weekend coverage as needed. Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that dormitory operations, youth supervision, and staff supervision are in accordance with HHS policies and procedures and all licensing agency requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and supervision to staff to ensure that proper and trained therapeutic treatment and management of the youth is in place 24/7.
- Consult and collaborate with varied disciplines including social work clinicians, medical, nursing, psychological and administrative staff.
- Provide direct care to youth clients.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills along with the ability to prioritize multiple needs and deadlines;
- Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills;
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, juvenile justice, and residential treatment best practices;
- An understanding and aptitude for the operation of a 24 hour, 7 day a week program in a residential care setting.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of youth, families, and professionals. Possess a knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or significant residential/youth care experience is required;
- 1-3 years past supervisory experience is strongly preferred;
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record;
- Experience working with youth in the care of the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF);
- Physical requirements of this position include: frequent standing, sitting, walking; occasional running; lifting of up to 20lbs.
- Must have the ability to be trained in and implement de-escalation techniques including youth restraint when necessary.
- Must successfully complete required driving record, criminal, and child abuse/neglect pre-employment screenings and maintain favorable results during employment.
