JOB GOALProvides students with research-based learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in small group settingsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or universityo Minimum two years of experience supporting K-2 ELAR and/or ESL classrooms (preferred)o Texas Teacher certificate appropriate for level and subject area of assignment (preferred)o ESL/Bilingual certification (preferred)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.o Creates a small-group environment that is conducive to learning, includes research-based best practices, and isappropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentso Plans small group lessons that, as much as possible, meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of studentso Provides focused, targeted, and systematic second language acquisition instruction and progress reports to the identifiedEmergent bilingual students/English learnerso Develops and implements instructional scaffolds for students based on prior analysis of a lessons text complexity andformative assessmento In collaboration with the classroom ELAR teacher, analyzes formative/summative assessment data to plan and makesinformed adjustments to lesson preparation and instruction for small groupso Evaluates student work samples against established criteria to identify and analyze trends and plan instructional nextstepso Supports students insetting goals and maintains standards of classroom behavioro Analyzes year-long curriculum to anticipate student struggles and maps prerequisite knowledge for a unit of instructiono Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as requiredo Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the locationprovided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedo Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilitieso Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law , district policy, and administrative regulationso Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life, conduct, and equityo Makes provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when requiredo Maintains and improves professional competenceo Participates in district and campus staff developmento Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committeeso Maintains a professional relationship with colleagueso Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community memberso Performs other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Knowledge of reading curriculum and instructiono Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and externalto the district.o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.o Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skillso Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,calculator, copy machine and telephone.o Ability to analyze data.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.o Position is in classroom setting and intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing.o Moderate travel is required.
