Senior Estimator- Heavy Civil Construction

The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams to evaluate project requirements, preparing detailed bids, and ensuring that all estimates meet the high standards of Harper Brothers Construction. The Senior Estimator works closely with the Chief Estimator to ensure all cost factors are considered and appropriately documented.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsible for all aspects of preparing an estimate for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, bid closeout and submission.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and the Chief Estimator to evaluate project scope and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to assess project requirements and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Perform risk assessments to identify any challenges or risks associated with project costs and propose solutions.
• Stay up to date on market trends, labor rates, and material costs to ensure estimates are competitive and accurate.
• Assist in bid preparation and review, ensuring bids are comprehensive and competitive.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information.
• Coordinate with the estimating team to ensure accuracy of estimates and ensure deadlines are met.
• Provide post-bid support by reviewing awarded contracts, verifying pricing, and assisting in the transition to project execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Estimator or Senior Estimator.
• Experience estimating projects of more than 50 million.
• Experience estimating heavy civil projects such as highway and municipal roadway components, mass excavation and grading projects, residential or commercial sites, and small or large diameter sewer, water, or drainage utility projects. Experience in CDOT and local agencies.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid and Agtek.
• Posses strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands.
• Candidates must possess a strong work ethic.
