What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Receptionist position at HARPER COUNTY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL?
The receptionist clerk performs daily routines such as switchboard duties, assisting the public, collection of monies, and assisting other office personnel. S/he remembers the patient’s rights and answers questions to the best of his/her ability within the privacy limitations. The receptionist clerk accurately fills out paperwork and forms either by hand or on the computer to be later processed by appropriate personnel.
Job Duties
- Greet patients and check patients in upon arrival and out at end of visit
- Alert personnel of phone calls, visitors, patients as needed
- Answer the telephone and give factual information according to the nature of questions within guidelines of HIPAA and the facility’s regulations
- Direct telephone communications within the clinic using a multi-line phone system
- Input data for new patients and scan necessary documents into computer software
- Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
- Record patient identification data and, when necessary, obtain signature of patient or responsible party
- Collect and record monies received for services rendered
- Records daily receipts in receipt book and begin the deposit process
- Maintain cash drawer and petty cash under supervision of office manager
- Type confidential correspondence and reports
- Duplicate reports, letters and other documents using copying equipment
- Assist with other office jobs as requested
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Confirm charge review
- Verify and confirm patient insurance eligibility
- Schedule appointments for registered and new patients
- Register new patients by carrying out necessary documentation before seeing the provider
- Evaluate office inventories and accessories by checking stocks to determine availability of materials
- In an emergency situation, provide assistance to the patient, then check them into the clinic and immediately get the provider to attend to the patient
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Clinic Office Manager and Hospital Administrator.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
