HEAD SWIM COACH (Summer/Part Time)
Do you love swimming? Enjoy working with kids? Come join us as Head Coach for our Harrington Grove summer swim league! Salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Harrington Grove Swim and Racquet Club (located off of Leesville Road in the Harrington Grove neighborhood) is looking for an experienced coach for our members (5-18 years) who participate in the HGSRC Stingrays Swim League from May through July, 20-25 hours/week. Swim meets include 7 weeknight meets (6 dual meets and 1 mock meet) as well as one weekend championship meet at the end of the season. The team holds several evening social events that coaches are expected to attend, including an end of season banquet.
Our swimmers cover a wide spectrum of skills and abilities, and the ideal candidate is an experienced swim coach who can provide consistency, leadership, and positivity to enable each swimmer to meet their highest potential. The perfect coach is someone who has a growth mindset and who is continuously looking for new ways to improve and expand the swimmers, the Stingrays program, and assistant coaches.
Requirements:
· Develop and implement training program that focus on improving technique, stroke placement, speed, and style. Coaching should be technically, age, and developmentally appropriate.
· Setup scheduling for Junior Coaching Staff and lead them into becoming good coaches and practicing safety at all times
· Plan team practice and meet schedules, including coach scheduling and meet entry assignments/line-ups
· Lead and manage the Assistant and Junior Coaching staff to provide effective and safe coaching technique and providing a fun experience for our members
· Input swimmer data into TeamUnify (and other similar programs necessary) for all meets and posting meet heat sheets for all TSA dual meets
· Proactively establish and maintain good swim team parent relations which includes providing appropriate levels of access and communication
· Assist with setting goals and expectations for Assistant Coaches and Junior Coaches and delegating tasks to achieve them
· Maintain team database for times and records in addition to practice records
· Lead the coaches and swim team at all meets
Qualifications:
· Outstanding leadership and motivational skills
· Extensive background in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, and age-appropriate dryland training techniques
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Track record of fostering an amazing team culture
· Completed courses in swimming instruction may be required
· Relevant license or certification may be required
· First-aid training recommended
