Job Summary : The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates and bid proposals for transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects. This individual will work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to develop comprehensive, accurate, and competitive estimates that align with project requirements and timelines. Additionally, the Senior Estimator will oversee and mentor a team of junior estimators, providing guidance and ensuring the overall success and accuracy of the estimation process.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for transmission, distribution, and substation projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contracts to understand the scope and identify key cost factors.
- Work closely with project teams to evaluate project designs and specifications, ensuring estimates reflect the complete scope of work.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, including identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Obtain pricing information from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Develop and maintain historical cost data to support future project estimates.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job site visits, and client meetings as required to gather necessary project information.
- Develop cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Ensure timely submission of estimates, keeping project teams informed on the status and progress.
- Assist with value engineering efforts and provide recommendations on cost-effective construction methods.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop detailed project schedules and milestones.
- Support senior management with overall project planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Manage and mentor a team of junior estimators, providing guidance and ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work.
- Review and approve estimates produced by junior estimators, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development to the estimating team to enhance their skills and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually improve estimating processes.
