Perform such computer-related tasks as necessary to insure that county-owned computer equipment is properly maintained and operational to support the computer-dependent activities of others and insure maximum office productivity. Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct ongoing support to office staff on general computing issues and support Windows workstations through hardware/software installations, upgrades, general networking and desktop support.
- Perform preventative maintenance on workstations to ensure systems are performing at an optimum level; will assist in some server maintenance and support.
- Create and maintain up-to-date computer hard drive images of standard office-wide software loadings, to refresh, repair or configure new or existing computers. Research, install, test, and deploy new software packages, patches, and updates as well as BIOS updates for the PCs and firmware upgrades for the printers to assure that the PCs and printers have all the newest capabilities and fixes, facilitating more trouble-free operation.
- Document, maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.
- Research, price, and sometimes purchase various pieces of computer or printer equipment.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve routine and non-routine user reports of computer equipment malfunction.
- Coordinate efforts of the PC & printer manufacturers’ and their technicians or customer service representatives, or third-party repair personnel to repair or replace broken hardware.
- Document, maintain and verify inventories of all computer equipment owned by the DA’s office.
- Assist and train users in the operation of office computer related software and hardware resources.
- Consult and collaborate with network and office staff on systems and application issues; make recommendations and help employ solutions for streamlining operations in the office.
- Advise users on best practices to ensure maximum productivity and achieve required levels of network security.
- Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
- Provide technical expertise and trial support to ADAs relative to deployment of video/audio hardware for display of evidence and presentations.
- This position is proficient in desktop computer hardware and software support and maintenance or hardware related peripherals.
- An Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a related Information Technology is preferable and 5 years experience in desktop support.
- This is a full time, in-person position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.
