Under direct supervision of the Family Assistance Manager, the deputy will be responsible for assisting members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, their family members, retirees, and other agencies as requested.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consult with members of the HCSO, retirees, and family members in reference to catastrophic events.
- Assist with funeral arrangements.
- Coordinate and assist with funerals.
- Arranging motorcycle escorts.
- Arranging or suggesting avenues for counseling services.
- Assist with insurance filings.
- Assist with financial aid for injured officers or survivors of deceased officers through local, state, and federal agencies.
- Chaplain assistance.
- Hospital visits.
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and necessary.
- Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field
- Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
- Traumas in Law Enforcement
- Critical Incident Stress Management
- Organizing and maintaining detailed files
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word and Outlook
- Proficient in the use of JWEB/JIMS, DIMS, and Superion
- Excellent communication skills- both oral and written
- Excellent organizational skills
- Office procedures and practices
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity
- Observe and record events accurately and completely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officers, other agencies, and the public
- Present a professional image as a representative of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office
- Must have a good attendance record
- Effectively manage a heavy caseload
- Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
- Work varying duty hours as may be needed
- Bilingual
- Associates Degree
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal benefits for line-of-duty death and injury

HOURS:
- A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
