What you will do for Harris County Precinct 2:
Under general supervision of Public Works Superintendent, performs a variety of general labor duties on asphalt road maintenance and construction duties.
- Performs general labor duties in a variety of asphalt road maintenance including pothole patching, asphalt repairs, debris removal, and traffic signs.
- Operates light construction equipment, including pick-up trucks, associated with asphalt road maintenance; Required ability to shovel, rake, handle other small hand tools and some power tools.
- Performs construction duties including setting up traffic control, signs, cones, flagging and directing traffic or any other traffic control devices
- Performs routine daily maintenance including pre/post trip inspections, checking and filling fluids, report repairs, and cleaning work area, tools, and equipment
- Handles road materials including asphalt, oils, gravel, limestone, concrete, compounds, and crack sealer material
- Work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
Licensure:
- Valid Class “C” Texas driver's license

Supervises Positions: None
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files of up to 50 lbs, open filling cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Essential functions involve significant physical reaching and bending. Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, drive, hear, bend, stoop, twist, and balance.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
