Position Overview:
The Intern is responsible for providing assistance to the maternal mental health program by conducting initial and ongoing assessments of assigned clients and participating in the service care delivery to clients. This program intends to expand mental health resource navigation by providing access to comprehensive mental health services to individuals navigating the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood from pre-conception to postpartum periods. The intern is accountable for ensuring delivery of exceptional services that are focused on the client's needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of assigned clients to document strengths, needs, goals, and resources.
  • Intern will be responsible for documenting all contact with client in a strength-based manner.
  • Maintains effective communications with clients, substance abuse and/or mental healthcare providers, collateral resources and other staff on behalf of clients.
  • Advocates on behalf of client with outside service providers and within the Maternal Mental Health Program
  • Attends and participates in team meetings to provide input/feedback around psychosocial and medical conditions/comorbidities to review client status, update plans and goals, review outcomes to further program goals.
  • Participates in individual and group supervision, treatment team meetings, case conferences, and other staff development activities as assigned.
  • Conducts outreach activities to inform community groups/agencies about Maternal Mental Health Program services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field is required. 

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance(Texas upon hire)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment

Education:
  • Enrollment in a Master's program in Social Work (MSW) or Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). 



Experience:
  •  One (1) year of experience in healthcare services may substitute for enrollment in a master's program. 
Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Part-Time | Temp 
  • Monday – Friday | 30 hours per week
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however, days and times may vary to include evenings and weekends due to operational needs and community events. 
  • Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction.

Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment with occasional visits needed to private residential homes, clinics, and other community organizations.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:
  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Salary : $41,600 - $52,000
