What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4 (HCP4)
Precinct 4 Forward Internship Program (P4FIP), is an 9-week paid summer internship for students with a passion for serving others.
We’ve designed our program to expose students to career opportunities with Harris County and apply what they have learned in the classroom to hands-on projects. P4FIP provides students the chance to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical professional experience.
Interns will deliver services that support Precinct 4’s mission and focus on improving the health and well-being of all the precincts constituents. Participation in these initiatives will benefit the interns personal and professional development throughout the summer as they launch their career. Interns will work with a mentor, form relationships with other
interns, engage our Senior Leadership Team, and most of all, serve the precincts constituents.Interns will be assigned a project within Special Projects. Interns will be given 9 weeks to complete and have a finished product that benefits you and the Precinct, furthering your experience.

Examples:
- Measuring playgrounds to order kiddie mulch for yearly install.
- Taking inventory of signage, coordinating with sign shop for new signs.
- Receiving requests of support and coordinating with Special Projects Team to complete requests.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and assist various departments in Precinct 4.
- Help create a friendly, open, and safe environment at all facilities.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of daily activity plans and support.
- Help maintain organized inventory.
- Gain familiarity with the facility schedule, procedures, and policies.
- Understand the role of Special Projects and Operations in the context of Precinct 4 and local government.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Internship Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an educational institution and working toward an an undergraduate degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Must possess working knowledge of computers and related software.
- Proficient in the Microsoft suite of applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to take initiative and possess skills for problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Must be efficient and detail-oriented with a strong customer/constituent focus.
