ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a superior level of service/support to customers and sales force
- Handle busy incoming telephone orders and answer customer inquires
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers
- Provide efficient and accurate processing of customer orders; edit orders received for accurate pricing and codes
QUALIFICATIONS —
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Sells industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding supplies and related equipment to customers.
- Answers customer questions.
- Advises customer on equipment and materials needed and procedures to follow to complete tasks they wish to perform.
- Demonstrates use of equipment.
- Arranges for delivery of cylinders and hard-goods.
- Stocks and maintains showroom displays.
- Obtains or transfers merchandise to and from other locations.
- Prepare invoice, accepts payments and makes change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed; including coding, costing and pricing.
- Communicate by phone and in person with external and internal customers.
- Establish and maintain good customer relations.
- Coordinate with purchasing department any product shortage or outages.
- Ensure all administrative and accounting related procedures are strictly observed.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed and followed.
- Maintain and restock warehouse and store.
- Measure and cut steel and cable for customers.
- Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
- Operate forklift and other equipment as required.
- Perform duties of backup driver when necessary (if qualified).
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and management.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Computer skills or some knowledge of computer order entry system. (TIMS)
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to routinely lift 25 - 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 51 - 80 lbs., frequent bending.
- Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to work overtime and Saturdays, when necessary.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and background.
- Must be able to operate in an alcohol and drug-free workplace.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities in a timely and efficient manner, and meet appropriate deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment to resolve both routine and non-routine issues.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE DESIRED
- Setup and promotion of welding equipment and processes.
- Experience in handling compressed gases.
- Customer service or sales experience.
