GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the overall day-to-day supports of each individual placed in the home under the license of Harris Quality Care Services LLC. Additionally other responsibilities and duties include the implementation of Individual Support Plans, support checklist and; experience in behavior management and individual programming for individuals who have a developmental disability. The Direct Support Professional will be responsible for the oversight of proper administration of medication management procedures, assuring individuals are receiving quality and professional services. Individuals shall also receive support with personal care, domestic skill building, behavior management, community inclusion, overnight support, medical and crisis management intervention, budgeting and money management. The Direct Support Professional will be supervised by the Residential Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Supervises all residents.
- Enforces rules and regulations dictated by group home.
- Ensures all residents are in bed by lights out.
- Assists in preparing scheduled and planned meals and snacks for residents.
- Observes dietary restrictions and guidelines of specific residents.
- Writes up reports of resident behavior and activity.
- Submits reports to the Residential Manager.
- Assists in resolving disputes amongst residents.
- Distributes proper medications and supplements to residents.
- Ensures that all residents attend appointments.
- Drives residents to day Support or extracurricular activities as necessary.
- Observes any alterations or idiosyncrasies in resident behavior and reports them to the Residential Manager accordingly.
- Identifies signs of a resident’s potential harm to self or others, and addresses these accordingly.
- Enforces disciplinary action as necessary.
- Engages residents in conversation and encourages socializing.
- Provides emotional support for residents.
- Consults with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and therapists to ensure streamlined and top-quality care for residents
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma and 1 year of work experience with individuals who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability (DD).
- Valid operator’s driving license.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Background Report.
- TB-Test with results of not having TB in a contagious form.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Behavior management techniques (Physical Intervention Training).
- Individual Person-Centered Plans.
- DBHDS and Human Rights Licensure Policy and Procedures.
SKILLS & ABILITIES IN:
- Supervising individuals with a wide variety of support needs.
- Written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
- Implementing Individual Person-Centered Plans and behavioral intervention plans.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and reports.
- Implementing program supports with outside agencies, organizations, and professionals.
- Maintaining professional ethical standards.
- Maintaining all required training in First Aid, CPR, Medication Management, Behavioral Management, etc.

All Harris Quality Care Services LLC employees are required to receive an agency overview and orientation within 15 business days of hire.
