What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant / Paralegal Full Time Family Law position at Harris Velazquez Gibbens?
We are in search of a full-time Family Law Legal Assistant or Paralegal to add to our existing team. The ideal candidate must be extremely organized, tech savvy and excellent at cataloging and managing a large number of files.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, opening and closing files, litigation preparation, drafting pleadings, e-filing, downloading discovery, making copies, scheduling court dates, client communications, and answering phone calls. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Adobe and Smokeball a plus. Must maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly by phone or in person with other support staff and attorneys, and be familiar with office equipment including copier, scanner, computers and multi-line phone systems. Ability to multitask essential as we work in a fast-paced, team-focused office environment.
Specific duties may include
- Prepare legal correspondence, documentation, and other materials
- Organize large amounts of legal documents, invoices, and letters
- Compile legal documentation into files and maintain an organized filing system
- Create photocopies and reproductions of records and legal documentation
- Deliver documentation to courthouses, law firms, and other locations as needed
- Answer phone calls and transfer calls to appropriate party
- Maintain schedules and calendar and updates as needed
- Assist paralegals and attorneys in locating files and organizing, copying, and maintaining documents
- Comfortable with highly confidential information
Requirements:
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); scheduling and organization skills a must
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Full Time. Hourly rate DOE (range from $25-32 per hour based on level of experience). Benefits (waiting period may apply, generally 90 days) include employer paid health and dental insurance. 401k plan available.
