What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions and MHT position at Harsha Behavioral Center?
This position is designed for someone who enjoys working in an office setting and working on the floor as a Mental Health Technician.
Schedule: Sunday 8 pm-8 am (Admissions), other shifts scheduled as a MHT
Hours: flexible
Applicants must have excellent verbal/social skills, customer service, and be able to multitask. Must be able to communicate effectively with families and referral sources. Must have excellent computer skills, be proficient with our EMR system, and be a critical thinker.
Job duties for the Admission Coordinator position include but are not limited to the following:
· Confer with physicians, nursing and other hospital staff members and external parties to coordinate and schedule the admission of a patient.
· Interviews patient and parent/guardian to obtain personal and financial data to determine eligibility for admission.
· Interfaces effectively with HMOs
· Gather and process admission data in a timely fashion.
· Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner.
· Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients, their families and referral sources.
· Information given is accurate and complete.
· Messages taken are accurate. The appropriate message forms are used.
· Respects the dignity, confidentiality, and privacy of patients.
Essential duties and responsibilities for MHT include but are not limited to:
- Participates in providing a therapeutic environment through acceptance of patient behavior and guidance toward socially acceptable behavior. Interprets information needed to identify patient requirements relative to age specific needs.
- Orients patients to the units, takes admission vital signs
- Performs and records patient vital signs, intake and output; notifies RN of any changes.
- Provides general nursing care, i.e., transferring patients, assisting with ADLs.
- Monitors patient’s compliance with pre and post procedure instructions under the supervision of the RN.
- Continuously observes patients’ behavior, mental status and activities, notifies RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention.
