Responsibilities Include
Legal Support
- Organize and electronically file legal documents, supporting attorneys in their drafting, preparation, and organization, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
- Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring strict adherence to relevant rules and deadlines.
- Conduct legal research, including case law, statutes, and regulations, to support case development.
- Provide assistance to attorneys during trial and hearing proceedings.
Administrative Duties
- Manage general office operations, including correspondence, phone handling, and organization of materials.
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and third parties.
- Oversee scheduling and calendar coordination.
Case Management
- Coordinate the scheduling of appointments, hearings, depositions, and other case-related events.
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring that all documents are filed correctly and are easily accessible.
Client and Court Communication
- Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, and other parties, ensuring timely communication and relaying information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies or a Paralegal Certificate ABA-approved institution preferred.
- Litigation, Legal assistance or Relevant Law firm Experience: 1-3 years (Required)
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Calendar): 1-2 years (Required)
- Skilled at working independently, managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapting to instructions effectively.
- Proficient in using legal research and case management software.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with other legal assistants, paralegals and attorneys, as well as to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
