Hart to Heart is looking for dedicated Emergency Medical Responder's (EMR) to work our Baltimore City Fire Dept. 911 contract!
PRIMARY FUNCTION
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Ambulance Driver/Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) operates a basic life support unit and renders assistance with basic lifesaving interventions per established standards of care in accordance with the current jurisdictional medical protocols for emergency medical services providers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive basic life support unit to provide timely transport of patients.
- Assist EMT-B with basic lifesaving interventions as needed.
- Comply with all safety guidelines and recognize and promptly report unsafe situations.
- Operate assigned vehicles safely in accordance with applicable traffic laws and company policy.
- Inspect/ensure readiness of assigned vehicles at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Clean and fuel assigned vehicles and care for and maintain, within reason, equipment and assigned apparatus, reporting deficiencies to proper personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- EMR certification
- EMR experience preferred
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- Driver’s license with safe driving record and no more than 2 points
- Ability to safely lift up to 300 pounds with partner
- Ability to pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and pre-employment behavioral interview
- Ability to communicate proficiently in the English Language, both orally and in writing
- PPD clearance and Hepatitis B vaccination or waiver
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to access interior of the ambulance (step of up to 16 inches) using OEM equipment unassisted
- Periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and turning
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs of equipment and medical bags unassisted
- Frequent movement in the back of the ambulance in tight conditions
- Frequent assistance with transferring patient from bed to stretcher and vice-versa.
- Able to operate motor vehicle without restrictions
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects safely with assistance and without difficulty.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty and the ability to lift and carry 300 pounds up and down one flight of stairs (16 – 19 steps) safely with assistance.
